How to read dialogue cards, follow the guest’s reactions, and check a drink’s effects before serving.

Blindspot beginner’s guide: your first conversation behind the bar

What you actually do

Blindspot is a narrative bartending visual novel. The guest speaks, you choose a response, and drinks change the conditions of the conversation. The key is paying close attention to the person in front of you. Clicking the boldest line every time is not a winning strategy.

This guide walks you through the core bartending loop: reading the guest's subtle signals, timing your drinks, and mastering the psychological rhythm of every exchange.

Read the guest before choosing a card

The footage shows response options marked Insight, Joke, and Flirt. Read the whole line, not just its category. An observation can be intrusive. A joke can defuse tension or avoid the question. A flirt can be welcome or badly timed.

Look for what the guest is asking, what they are avoiding, and how they reacted to the previous exchange. A response that suits one moment can land differently in another.

Watch the indicators

The interface displays Guard, Arousal, and Intoxication. These are distinct psychological indicators that shift with your choices and cocktail blends. A change in one alters how the guest receives your next words.

Guard is particularly crucial: lowering it unlocks genuine intimacy and unvarnished confessions. Pay close attention to how your dialogue cards and beverage recipes interact with their Guard, Arousal, and Intoxication.

Check the drink before serving

Drink-making is an essential part of the interaction. Select ingredients, craft your blend, and review effect labels with timing information before committing to a serve.

Some effects last for several turns or trigger on a subsequent pour. Experiment with flavor profiles and spirit combinations to tailor each cocktail to the guest's hidden emotional state and break down their defenses.
